David Peters is the Founder and Owner of Peters Professional Education in Richmond, VA, and is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) with Peters Financial LLC. He has over fifteen years of experience in financial services, including 3 years in the hedge fund industry and six years in the insurance industry.
David was the first-ever Chief Financial Officer at Compare.com - a position he held for over three years. He is a national CPE Instructor/Discussion Leader for Surgent, Kaplan, the AICPA and Don Farmer Tax Courses. He regularly teaches courses in accounting, finance, insurance, financial planning, and ethics throughout the United States.
He holds four master’s degrees and contributes regularly to various CPA publications, including NCACPA’s Interim Report, SCACPA’s CPA Report, and VSCPA’s Disclosures. He was also a co-author of the Virginia CPA Ethics course in 2018, 2019 and 2020 – a required course for all CPAs licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Bruce Shepard was most recently an assistant professor of accounting at George Fox University and an adjunct professor of accounting at the University of Oregon, prior to becoming an instructor for the AICPA in 2012. From 2006-2010, Mr. Shepard was the Chief Financial Officer of Las Vegas Gaming, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he had full management responsibility for all financial affairs, daily business operations, administration and human resources. From 1985-2006, Mr. Shepard was in charge of the Middle Market Practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Portland, Oregon, where he served as an Assurance Partner from 1989-2006 focusing on providing proactive business advisory services to fast-growing companies. At PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Mr. Shepard spearheaded over 100 acquisitions and divestitures by leading in the financial structuring and negotiations. He worked with clients to develop strategic plans for short-term and long-term growth. He assisted both start-up companies and beyond start-up companies with attaining their needed growth capital. Mr. Shepard wrote an article, Financing Entrepreneurs, in 1999 for the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Shepard was awarded “Beta Alpha Psi Professional of the Year” in 2006 for sustained involvement with the University of Oregon.

Daniel W. Bradley, CPA

Dan Bradley is a principal with the regional certified public accounting firm of Young, Oakes, Brown & Co. P.C. in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He has extensive experience in performing audits of for-profit as well as governmental and not-for-profit organizations subject to the Single Audit Act and OMB Circular A-133. In addition, he has extensive experience dealing with entities (governmental units, not-for-profit organizations, and for-profit organizations) subject to the requirements of Government Auditing Standards. Dan holds a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with highest distinction.
Mr. Bradley is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the Institute of Management Accountants. He is also a long time member of the PICPA’s Local Government Accounting and Auditing Committee. As of June 1, 2007, Mr. Bradley was elected to the PICPA’s Ethics Committee. Mr. Bradley has also served as past president of his IMA chapter, as well as serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Economy League. Mr. Bradley was a past President of the Altoona Chapter of the American Business Club as well as being a member of his local March of Dimes board.
In addition, Mr. Bradley has previously been an adjunct associate professor at Saint Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania where he is a past recipient of the Continuing Education’s Instructor of the Year Award. Mr. Bradley has been a frequent speaker and panelist on various governmental and not-for-profit programs for the AICPA, numerous state societies, the St. Francis College’s CPE Department, and numerous local entities. Mr. Bradley is a multi-year recipient of the AICPA’s Outstanding Facilitator Award.

Arthur Joseph Werner, J.D., M.S. (Taxation)
Arthur Joseph Werner, JD, MS (Taxation), is the president and is a shareholder in the lecture firm of Werner-Rocca Seminars, Ltd. Mr. Werner’s lecture topic specialties include business, tax, financial and estate planning for high net worth individuals.
In addition, Mr. Werner is a former adjunct professor of taxation in the Master of Science in Taxation program at the Philadelphia University.
Mr. Werner received his B.S. in Accounting and his M.S. in Taxation from Widener University. He holds a J.D. in Law from the Delaware Law School. Mr. Werner lectures extensively in the areas of Estate Planning, Financial Planning, and Estate and Gift Taxation to Certified Public Accountants and Financial Planners and has presented more than 3000 eight-hour seminars over the past twenty-five years as well as numerous webinars and video presentations. Mr. Werner has been rated as having the highest speaker knowledge in his home state of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, was awarded the AICPA Outstanding Discussion Leader Award in the State of Nevada, the Florida Institute of CPAs Outstanding Discussion Leader Award, and the South Carolina Association of CPAs Outstanding Discussion Leader Award.

Network with fellow leaders in the profession and enjoy the beautiful Ocean City beach / boardwalk. Members are also encouraged to bring families and make Beach Retreat part of a working vacation, or bring your co-workers and make it a staff retreat.
Multiple courses are offered every day of the retreat, and participants are invited to take as many (or few) sessions as they like.
