We are seeking a Financial Controller to join Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC (BRRP), a
privately held real estate investment and management firm specializing in grocery-anchored shopping
centers nationwide. This is a mid-level leadership role with oversight of corporate financial
reporting, accounting operations, and payroll administration, ensuring financial integrity and
compliance across the organization.

Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, proactive finance professional who thrives in a dynamic
environment. This individual will play a key role in managing financial reporting, overseeing a multi-entity
accounting structure, and supporting strategic decision-making through budgeting, forecasting, and
process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
● Financial Leadership: Oversee accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial
reporting.
● Corporate Financial Reporting: Manage month-end close and financial reports for 25+
entities.
● Lender & Investor Relations: Prepare lender communications and process quarterly
distributions.
● Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with leadership on financial planning and cash flow
management.
● Audit & Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee year-end audits.
● Process Optimization: Enhance financial systems and oversee key people-related programs.
Qualifications:
● 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (leadership experience preferred).
● Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting expertise.
● Experience managing financials for multiple entities.
●Proficiency in accounting software & advanced Excel skills.
● Experience with payroll, 401(k), and benefits administration a plus.
● CPA/CFA preferred but not required.

Position Summary:

The CFO will serve as a vital member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the firm’s executive committee. The CFO will take charge of all financial operations, driving strategies to improve profitability, optimize cash flow, streamlining billing operations and enhance operational efficiency. This role encompasses oversight of financial management, technology upgrades, and strategic resource planning, ensuring alignment with the firm’s growth objectives. This role can be worked on a hybrid basis, but heavier emphasis on an in-office presence is required.  Given that, residence within 50 miles of Fair Lakes/Fairfax is highly recommended.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and setting both annual and long-term financial goals.  
  • Partner with department heads to establish and monitor clear financial targets and KPIs, delivering regular updates to shareholders.
  • Cash Flow & Personnel Management
  • Streamline billing and collections processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cash flow.
  • Optimize the firm’s cash conversion cycles, including client onboarding, payables, and receivables management.
  • Collaborate with HR and department leaders to model staffing needs, ensuring an appropriate balance of in-house and outsourced resources to meet client demands.
  • Operational Efficiency & Outsourcing
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes, technology systems, and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Oversee technology upgrades, ensuring seamless integration to enhance operational performance.
  • Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Compliance
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
  • Provide actionable insights through variance analysis, financial trend reporting, and strategic projections.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial management experience within a professional services or accounting firm.
  • Proven expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Track record of improving financial operations, streamlining billing processes, and implementing financial software systems.
  • Experience in modeling personnel needs for both in-house and outsourced resources.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence executive decision-making.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar financial platforms.
  • Knowledge and interest in furthering IT services and efficiencies to support a growing firm.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting


RESPONSIBILITIES: The UMBC Economics Department is seeking a Visiting Assistant Teaching
Professor of Accounting to teach Accounting Principles I and II. Some teaching of upper level courses in
accounting may also be assigned. Homework and some testing is done through accounting software. The
current software being used is MyAccountingLab. The instructor reports to the Director. Duties include inclass delivery of lectures, grading and availability to students through limited office hours. Student
advising and outreach to prospective employers is also expected.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.
