Diversity, equity & Inclusion Initiatives

A diverse profession is a successful profession.

MACPA works to achieve a widely represented membership in order to better reflect and serve the world in which we live.

MACPA

"What if more students had an ecosystem that motivated, encouraged and supported them on their journey to becoming a CPA? What if is a question of endless possibilities, but it also needs execution to move beyond good intentions.” - Chair, Kimberly N. Ellison-Taylor, CPA, CGMA, CISA

Professional Mentoring

Our membership is composed of some of the best accounting, business, and technological talent in the world. Together, we represent hundreds of thousands of years of professional experience. That vast experience must be passed on to the next generation of CPAs.

The MACPA Mentorship Program allows you to be a mentor or mentee, creating a valuable connection with a current or future CPA.

MACPA Pipeline Initiative

The future of our profession is in the hands of today’s students. Our diversity, equity, and inclusion work starts with them.

MACPA's Pipeline Initiative highlights the work MACPA does on behalf of our member organizations to prepare high school and college students and CPA Candidates for their future careers. We celebrate and train future students by hosting events and providing resources for their success.

The Pipeline Initiative strives to make the CPA profession appealing and attainable to young people from every demographic in order to become a truly diverse profession.

Accessibility for Participation

Because we want every one of our members to be able to be involved with MACPA in the way that’s best for them, we strive to make our content available in numerous formats and locations. MACPA hosts special events and CPE courses throughout the state, as well as hundreds of simulcasts, webcasts, and webinars, including a variety of content available 24/7 on-demand.

We also make our content available in many formats, on many print and digital platforms, offering us the greatest reach to serve members well. Many of our videos also include a closed captioning service for the hearing impaired.

Help Us Improve

We know we can improve. And we must work together. Our members and association staff can make a big difference for our profession in Maryland and beyond.

If you would like to learn about how you, your firm, or your organization can make strides in joining us on the path to greater diversity, equity, and inclusion, please contact us.
