The MACPA remains committed to strengthening the talent pipeline within the accounting profession, embracing diverse and complementary solutions that prioritize "AND" over "OR." As part of these efforts to cultivate future CPAs, we host Student Leadership Academy events, offering college students a unique chance to explore the multifaceted world of accounting beyond traditional coursework.

Most recently, we hosted the High School Leadership Academy in partnership with AICPA-CIMA as part of Youth Apprenticeship Program in Maryland. Twenty students from throughout Maryland took their first steps toward becoming future accounting and finance leaders. Read more about the inaugural event here.

Our next Student Leadership Academy event, "Jumpstart Your CPA Career," is on August 6th. This one-day, in-person event at the MACPA offices in Towson, MD, bridges the gap between classroom education and real-world accounting practice. Participants in the Student Leadership Academy will gain technical knowledge and essential soft skills often overlooked in traditional academic settings. The event fosters connections among peers and industry professionals, creating a supportive community to guide and mentor students on their CPA journey.
