Lawmakers eye sales tax on accounting services

MACPA Executive Director Tom Hood reports that, in their search for more revenue in more places, Maryland House Speaker Michael Busch and the Ways and Means Committee are considering a sales tax on accounting services.

The bill in question is House Bill 11, "Sales and Use Tax -- Services."

All concerned CPAs are encouraged to contact the Ways and Means Committee and Speaker Busch and voice their opposition to such a tax.

More details will come as they are made available.
