Clarity, competition, and change
When Jeff Wilson II stepped into the role of chair of Maryland’s Board of Public Accountancy earlier this year, he expected added responsibility. What he didn’t expect was the flood of emails, LinkedIn messages, and public feedback that arrived almost immediately.
“It was a lot,” Wilson said with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Is this what this job really comes to?’”
But that direct connection to the profession is exactly what Wilson values most about the role. A longtime volunteer leader with the MACPA, AICPA, and other professional groups, Wilson brings a wide-angle view of the profession to the boardroom — one shaped by years of service, technical experience, and conversations with CPAs across multiple generations and practice areas.
