Former MACPA Chair Joseph Healy dies at 87

We are saddened to share that Joseph Healy, a respected leader in the accounting profession who served as chair of the MACPA Board of Directors during the 1990-91 fiscal year, passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 87.

Joe dedicated his life to service — professionally, civically, and personally. He was a partner at Dembo, Jones CPAs and a longtime MACPA volunteer, reflecting a long and distinguished career in the profession. He also served on the Bethany Beach Town Council from 2008 to 2020, where he was deeply committed to his community.

A graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University and St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C., Joe was also a proud Navy Reservist, a devoted Washington football fan, and a lover of Frank Sinatra and Irish music. Above all, he was known for his warmth, integrity, and deep love for his family.

“Joe Healy represented the very best of the accounting profession — he led with integrity, humility, and a genuine care for others,” said MACPA CEO Rebekah Olson. “We are grateful for his leadership and friendship, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Healy family.”
