We sit down with former MACPA Chair Lexy Kessler, vice chair of the AICPA and Mid-Atlantic managing partner at Aprio who also chairs the National Pipeline Advisory Group, a group of 23 leaders representing a cross-section of the profession who have been working to create a unified pipeline strategy that reflects the needs of multiple stakeholders, leverages unbiased research, and leads to meaningful change, all in the hopes of helping to alleviate our profession’s ongoing talent shortage.

In this conversation, we dive into the recently finalized Accounting Talent Strategy Report and its bold suggestions for solving the profession’s talent challenges. Lexy shares insights on how the report’s key themes have been well-received, and we explore trends like three-year bachelor's programs and shifting education preferences.

We also break down the report’s six recommendations, from retooling education to evolving business models. Lexy also speaks to the importance of collaboration and grassroots efforts like the National Pipeline Pledge.
