This session will provide accounting educators with a regional update on key developments across North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland and what they mean for the future of CPA licensure and the profession.

Through a high-level “lightning round” format, speakers will highlight recent regulatory updates and emerging trends affecting the CPA pipeline. Topics will include pathway updates, mobility considerations, use of title, principal place of business requirements, and broader profession trends such as private equity investment in firms, AICPA’s Profession Ready initiative, and evolving workforce expectations.

Participants will gain insight into how these changes may impact students pursuing CPA licensure and how educators can stay informed as the regulatory and professional landscape continues to shift.

As the accounting profession continues to evolve, faculty are rethinking how to prepare students for a workforce shaped by technology, data, and changing professional expectations. This session introduces the EY Accounting Research Center (EYARC) and its growing portfolio of classroom‑ready resources supporting engaged, profession‑focused learning across the accounting curriculum.

Participants will explore resources and how faculty are using the EYARC materials—available at no cost to not‑for‑profit higher education institutions—to support learning around generative AI, analytics, ethics, and more. The session highlights how these modular resources are designed to easily embed into existing courses while helping students build judgment, curiosity, adaptability, and other career‑ready skills.

As artificial intelligence tools become increasingly accessible to students, educators are navigating new questions around course design, assessment strategies, and academic integrity. This interactive session provides a collaborative space for accounting educators to share experiences and explore best practices for integrating AI into teaching while maintaining academic standards.

Through facilitated breakout discussions, participants will exchange ideas on topics such as responsible AI use in coursework, strategies for mitigating academic dishonesty, effective approaches to online course design, and innovative teaching methods that support student engagement.
