MACPA brings the future of the profession center-stage at 2020 NABA National Conference

MACPA CEO Tom Hood to lead power-packed conversation about accounting’s future featuring three of the profession’s four most influential thought leaders

Three of accounting’s four most influential thought leaders will lead a conversation about the future of the profession to kick off “Insight Reimagined,” the 2020 convention of the National Association of Black Accountants.

Tom Hood, CPA, president and CEO of the Maryland Association of CPAs and the Business Learning Institute, will facilitate a panel discussion titled “State of the Profession: Adjusting to a Brave New World.” Joining him will be American Institute of CPAs President and CEO Barry Melancon and Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, Executive Director of Finance Thought Leadership for Oracle.

In Accounting Today’s most recent list of “The Most Influential People in Accounting,” Melancon ranked No. 1, with Hood at No. 2 and Ellison-Taylor at No. 4.

The session will be held virtually at 1:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 8.

The program will open with a keynote from Hood, who will set context for the conversation by examining the trends that are impacting the profession and the opportunities those trends provide. Hood will then facilitate a conversation with Melancon and Ellison-Taylor that explores the current landscape and the issues and opportunities on the horizon, particularly as they relate to disruptions caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.

“Insight Reimagined” is an opportunity for NABA members to get first-hand access to the latest trends in the field and best practices that will increase their knowledge, transform their careers, and maximize their contributions at work. The virtual convention will showcase timely topics impacting accounting and finance professionals as well as provide opportunities to connect with subject matter experts. Similar to the traditional NABA convention, attendees can earn key professional development and CPE credits as part of their professional training, and certification requirements necessary for advancement.
