Don’t miss the 2019 Women to Watch Awards on Sept. 27

Not everyone is born to be a leader but we all need them.

Especially, we need more women leaders.

Women are still under-represented in the workplace and, according to Pew Research, in 2018 earned 85 percent of their male counter-parts.

Luckily, we have women in the accounting field who aren’t afraid to step up, set an example of leadership and help pave the way for other female leaders.

The MACPA is excited to honor those fearless leaders at the 2019

Women to Watch Awards Breakfast, scheduled for Sept. 27 at The Hotel at Arundel Preserve. The AICPA established the Women to Watch award to not only highlight the accomplishments of the women leaders in the profession but prove to emerging female leaders that success is not out of reach.

There are two categories of awards:

  • Emerging Leaders - These women are up-and-coming stars in their organizations.
  • Experienced Leaders: These women have established their roles as leaders in their organizations by advancing to the highest levels of management or ownership, and by mentoring those following in their footsteps.

It takes courage, patience, persistence, and a lot of determination to not only achieve success but to help lead and influence others along the way. Gail Sheehy said it best: “If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security.” These outstanding women CPAs are helping to pave the way by being fearless with the discomfort growth and leadership can bring.

Help us honor these leaders in the field and encourage them to keep changing, growing and surrendering their security so that they can continue to influence other young women in accounting.
