1 – 2:40 pm – Rolling Out Resiliency: Quick Tools for Reigniting Yourself and Your Team!
Presenter: Lyndley O’Dell, MS, PHR, SHRM-CP, Maryland Healthcare Education Institute
Is your team burned out, stressed, running on empty? Maybe YOU are feeling these things? Now more than ever, resiliency, our ability to cope, is a critical skill to develop and use in our fast-paced, rapidly changing and uncertain environment.
Burnout is a syndrome characterized by exhaustion, cynicism and reduced effectiveness. Research shows that motivation, quality, and well-being are all negatively impacted by burnout.
The good news is that resiliency is a skill that can be developed and strengthened. 30% of our resiliency is linked to our genes, however, 70% is influenced by our environment.
In this interactive session, evidenced-based resiliency tools from the research by Dr. Bryan Sexton, Duke University, and Martin Seligman, University of Pennsylvania, will be examined. Utilization of these tools has shown a significant decrease in burnout and depression as well as fewer issues in dealing with difficult colleagues and a reported better work/life balance. Applying these tools will increase moral, focus and engagement.
