Government Contracting Revenue Considerations and Technical Updates: Key Accounting Considerations for Government Contractors

Speaker: William Laubach, CPA, Assurance Director, BDO USA, P.C.

Since ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers, went into effect in 2019, BDO has gained a deeper understanding about the standard and how best to apply its principles to government contractors.  BDO knows there are complex elements for some organizations, but our professionals have a proven process to identify and resolve issues arising from ASC 606.  The learning objectives of this course are to aid attendees in (1) defining the five-step model prescribed under ASC 606 and how to apply the model to your contracts, (2) identifying key issues in ASC 606 that specifically impact government contractors, and (3) gaining a better understanding of common focus areas under ASC 606 during the audit process.

Legal Update for Government Contractors

Speakers: Rebecca Sheppard, Esq., Partner, Frost Law and Peter Haukebo, Esq., Partner, Frost Law

The Federal government has paid out enormous sums of money to businesses as a result of COVID-era relief programs such as the Paycheck Protection Program ("PPP") and Employee Retention Credit ('ERC").  Fraud and abuse followed and the government has established Strike Force teams to investigate and prosecute these bad actors, several of whom otherwise contract with the government in the ordinary course of their business.  We will discuss these criminal indictments and convictions and also elaborate on likely civil audit issues related to these relief programs to help prepare taxpayer-employers for examinations that are coming.
