Alternative to fair value: Pure comedy?

I just couldn't resist this one.

Courtesy of Robert Jensen on the CPAs-L Listserve (and if you're not subscribing to that list yet, you should be, in my humble opinion), here's "Mark to Market," a YouTube song / video from Merle Hazard, a satirical country singer who's been known to croon about the credit crisis.

"Don't mark our love to market," Hazard sings, adding brilliantly:

"I know that I'm no good for you,
I've never been naive,
But I can't face the real world yet,
Let's live in make-believe."

It would be even funnier if it didn't ring so close to home.

Anyway, happy Monday, everyone.
