Through the generous contributions of our donors the MACPA Foundation provides scholarships, leadership programs, and mentorship opportunities to help secure the future of the CPA profession.

The MACPA Foundation presents several scholarships tailored for Maryland college students. Apply between Jan. 1 and Apr. 15 annually, with recipients announced in May.

CPA Exam & Review Scholarships

Open year-round, our CPA exam and exam review scholarships offer awards based on eligibility criteria until the yearly limit is reached. Applicants can now apply after completing each section.

Academic Scholarships

The MACPA Foundation provides scholarships to students in Maryland who have chosen the CPA career path.

Steps to Apply for a Scholarship

  1. To apply for an MACPA scholarship, you will be redirected to ThisWayToCPA.com where our scholarship platform is housed.
  2. In order to apply, you will need to login with your AICPA student member account information.
  3. If you are not currently an AICPA student member, you will need to click on ‘Join the AICPA’ to become a member.
  4. This will automatically secure your MACPA student membership as well.
  5. You will then receive a prompt to return to the application for completion.

 Eligibility requirements for academic scholarships:

The MACPA Educational Foundation provides scholarships to students who are committed to pursuing a career as a CPA. To qualify for this scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen/Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Maryland resident attending a Maryland college or university
  • Completed introductory Accounting courses by the time of the award
  • Majoring in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field and committed to obtaining CPA designation
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program that will allow them to achieve the accounting concentration required to sit for the CPA Exam in Maryland
  • Demonstrate commitment to pursuing a career as a CPA by joining MACPA as a student member

CPA Exam

Applicants who meet the criteria will receive up to $1,000 of reimbursement for the CPA Exam. Apply after each exam section is booked; completion of all four parts not required.

CPA Exam Review

Throughout the year, Universal CPA Exam Review Programs will be awarded to eligible applicants who will receive lifetime access to the Universal CPA Exam Review product, a value of $799.

 Eligibility requirements for the CPA Exam & CPA Exam Review scholarships:

  • Be a Maryland resident
  • Be a U.S. citizen/Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Be a MACPA student or candidate member; www.macpa.org/join 
  • Not have already completed all four parts of the exam (may have completed up to three parts) 
  • Be planning to pursue CPA licensure but not currently be a CPA
  • Not receive financial assistance from his or her employer in the form of payments/reimbursements of Exam fees

If you become ineligible or no longer wish to be reimbursed, we request you notify MACPA as soon as possible so another candidate can receive assistance.
